Looking for holiday fun in Houston this season? From special exhibits to light shows and more, explore this massive metropolitan area to enjoy 14 of the most merry and bright experiences of the year in Houston, The Woodlands, Katy, Conroe, and beyond.  

 

LIVE SHOWS AND PERFORMANCES  

Get into the spirit of the season by catching one of these timeless performances. 

  • A Christmas Carol | Alley Theatre: The excellent cast make this rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic tale a must-see for fans young and old. Runs Nov. 15 to Dec. 29.  

  • The Nutcracker | Houston Ballet: A tradition unlike any other. Don’t miss this year’s dazzling performance right in the heart of downtown Houston. Runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 29. 

  • Very Merry Pops | Houston Symphony: Bring the whole family out to enjoy holiday classics expertly performed by the Houston Symphony, plus a visit from Santa Claus! Runs Dec. 12, 14, and 15 (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.)

LIGHTS AND DECORATIONS  

Between stunning Christmas trees and jaw-dropping light displays, there’s plenty of festive cheer to go around in the Houston region.  

  • Market Street in Lights | The Woodlands: A towering Christmas tree sets the stage for this wondrous holiday experience featuring thousands of lights twinkling bright during daily synchronized displays. Hourly on the half hour from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. through Dec. 31. 

  • Radiant Nature | Houston Botanic Garden: Now in its second year, Radiant Nature showcases the beauty of the Houston Botanic Garden with larger-than-life light installations perfect for visitors of every age. Runs nightly from sunset to 10 p.m. through Feb. 23.   

  • The Light Park | Katy and Spring: Cruise through The Light Park to witness millions of sparkly lights paired with festive music, snacks, and more. Open nightly at 5:30 p.m. through Jan. 5. 

  • Galaxy Lights | Space Center Houston: Head to the NASA Johnson Space Center to take in a space-themed holiday lights show featuring astronaut selfies, Apollo-themed lanterns and other unique experiences. Open 6 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 5. 

  • Magical Winter Lights | Rosenberg: Located at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, this 50-day festival features amazing lights displays, live performances, food truck treats, and plenty of other seasonal fun. Open nightly at 5 p.m. through Jan. 4.  

  • Zoo Lights | Houston Zoo: Zoo Lights has it all. The immersive Twinkle Trail. The new Whimsical Wildlife Tree. Colorful moving lights, cookie decorating, and more. Open daily from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. through Jan. 5. 

 

HOLIDAY POP-UPS AND EVENTS 

  • Christmas on Main | Conroe: Head to Conroe’s historic downtown district to enjoy this annual celebration featuring a tree lighting ceremony, shopping, activities, dining, and more. Dec. 3 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. 

  • Santa Photo Experience | The Galleria: Bring your kiddos out to the gorgeous Galleria mall to meet Santa Claus and snag a picture for your Christmas card. Open Nov. 29 through Dec. 24. 

  • Breakfast with Santa | Downtown Aquarium: Enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet at the Downtown Aquarium and meet Santa and the Aquarium’s mascot, Sharkey. Reservations required, available on Dec. 14, 15, and 21-24.
